The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, on Tuesday, led the agency’s rescue team to the scene of a train derailment along the Abuja–Kaduna rail line near the Idda sub-station.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the incident happened shortly after 11 a.m. Though no lives were lost, seven passengers sustained injuries of varying severity. They received first aid at the scene before being transferred to a hospital for further treatment.
The rescue mission was a coordinated multi-agency effort, with NEMA working alongside the Nigerian military, the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Immigration Service, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). Their prompt intervention ensured the smooth evacuation and safety of passengers on board.
Mediaplusng.com also reports that investigators from the Ministry of Transportation, led by the acting Permanent Secretary who was present at the site, will release more details on the cause of the derailment after a thorough assessment
