The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has expressed deep condolences to the Governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Dauda Lawal, NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, and the entire people of Zamfara State over the passing of the Emir of Gusau, Dr. Ibrahim Bello.
Dr. Bello, a respected traditional ruler, reportedly died in the early hours of Friday at a private hospital in Abuja. His demise marks the end of an era for the Gusau Emirate and Zamfara State, where he was widely admired for his leadership, cultural preservation, and commitment to peace and development.
In condolence letters signed by NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi (MON), the football governing body paid tribute to the late Emir’s legacy, describing him as a pillar of tradition who worked tirelessly to uphold the values and heritage of his people.
“We celebrate the impactful life of Dr. Ibrahim Bello, a leader who dedicated himself to the growth and harmony of Zamfara State. His contributions to cultural preservation and community development will remain unforgettable,” the NFF stated.
“While we mourn his loss, we are comforted by the knowledge that Emir Bello’s legacy is firmly etched in the sands of time. Almighty Allah loves him more, and we pray for his eternal rest.”
The NFF also extended sympathies to its President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), who holds a traditional title within the Gusau Emirate. The Federation acknowledged the emotional weight of this period for Gusau, even as he continues his leadership duties in Nigerian and West African football, including his role in the Organizing Committee of the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The NFF pledged its full support to Gusau and the people of Zamfara during this time of mourning, emphasizing that the late Emir’s legacy would continue to inspire future generations.
