The Nigeria Police Force announces the resumption of tinted glass permit enforcement, effective 2nd January 2026, to address rising security concerns linked to vehicles with unauthorised tinted windows. The policy had been temporarily suspended to allow motorists time to regularise their documents.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the suspension was not due to any court order but reflected the Force’s commitment to transparency and public convenience. The review followed increased reports of criminal activities, including armed robbery and kidnapping, facilitated by vehicles fitted with illegal tinted glass.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, assures the public that enforcement will be professional, lawful, and respectful of citizens’ rights. He emphasizes that the policy aims to safeguard communities while promoting compliance and public safety.
Mediaplusng.com reports that motorists are encouraged to apply for the Tinted Glass Permit through approved channels to ensure their vehicles meet legal requirements ahead of the resumption. The Force urges full cooperation to enhance security across the country.
