The Nigerian Air Force, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), has carried out a successful airstrike against terrorists who had gathered for a wedding ceremony at the foot of Asola Hills in Yankuzo Ward, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the targeted strike occurred on August 4, 2025, following credible intelligence that revealed the presence of armed groups from Faskari and Kankara areas of Katsina State, along with elements from various parts of Zamfara.
The precision airstrike neutralized dozens of terrorists, while others sustained critical injuries. Reports say the wounded were quickly moved by their collaborators to nearby Yankuzo village for medical attention.
In a follow-up operation on August 5, 2025, ground troops from 1 Brigade under Sector 2 OPFY encountered and overpowered an ambush along the route to the village, intensifying the blow to the terrorist network.
Local sources confirmed that at least 30 terrorists were killed in the combined air and ground offensives. Additionally, four terrorist collaborators from Kunchin Kalgo village in Tsafe were seriously wounded during the mission.
This coordinated effort has brought significant relief to residents of Yankuzo, Tsafe, and nearby communities, who have long endured attacks by armed groups.
