Troops of Operation Hadin Kai are recording a major operational success in Borno State after repelling a coordinated terrorist attack and neutralizing scores of insurgents, including top commanders.

The military operation, which takes place in Mallam Fatori, is described as a decisive response to an attempted large-scale assault by suspected Boko Haram fighters in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to Mediaplusng.com, the troops successfully neutralize no fewer than 80 insurgents during the encounter, while also recovering a large cache of weapons and combat equipment.

The attack reportedly occurs at a time when Nigeria’s Service Chiefs are preparing to relocate to Maiduguri to assess the recent resurgence of violent incidents in the region.

Military authorities say the insurgents launch the attack in large numbers, advancing on foot and deploying armed drones in an attempt to breach the defensive positions of troops.

According to Mediaplusng.com, the targeted location includes the 68 Battalion formation, particularly the frontline defended by Bravo Company near the Duguri axis.

However, troops on ground maintain full situational awareness and anticipate the movement of the attackers ahead of time.

This allows them to prepare a coordinated offensive-defensive strategy aimed at neutralizing the threat and preventing any breach of security.

Military sources explain that through disciplined fire control, coordinated maneuvers, and tactical execution, the troops successfully disrupt and repel the insurgents.

The attackers are reportedly thrown into disarray as they face sustained resistance from well-positioned forces.

Air support also plays a critical role in the operation.

Fighter aircraft from the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai provide precision close air support, targeting fleeing insurgents and reinforcing ground troops.

In addition, allied air assets from neighboring Niger Republic carry out rapid strike missions, further weakening the attackers and preventing regrouping.

According to Mediaplusng.com, the combined ground and air assault significantly increases pressure on the insurgents, leading to heavy losses within their ranks.

Following the engagement, troops conduct a thorough exploitation of the area, leading to the recovery of a substantial quantity of weapons and ammunition.

Recovered items include 52 AK-47 rifles, eight PKT machine guns, seven rocket-propelled grenade launchers, and five general-purpose machine guns.

Other items include over 3,000 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 21 RPG bombs, and nine locally fabricated improvised explosive devices.

Security officials also confirm the recovery of communication radios, multiple magazines, and components of armed drones used by the insurgents during the attack.

Military authorities say the recovery of these weapons represents a significant blow to the operational capacity of the terrorist group.

Despite the intensity of the battle, the military records minimal casualties on its side.

Four soldiers sustain injuries during the operation and are immediately stabilized and evacuated for medical treatment.

A follow-up battle damage assessment of air operations is ongoing to determine the full extent of the impact on the insurgents.

According to Mediaplusng.com, one of the most significant outcomes of the operation is the elimination of three high-profile terrorist commanders.

The individuals are identified as key figures involved in coordinating and leading the failed assault.

Their removal is expected to disrupt the command structure and weaken the operational effectiveness of the group within the region.

Several other fighters are also reported neutralized during the operation, further reducing the strength of the insurgents.

Security analysts say the loss of experienced commanders often leads to disorganization within militant groups and limits their ability to carry out coordinated attacks.

The success of the operation highlights the growing effectiveness of Nigeria’s military strategy in countering insurgency in the North-East.

Experts attribute this to improved intelligence gathering, better coordination between ground and air forces, and enhanced operational planning.

Mallam Fatori, where the operation takes place, is a strategic location in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.

The town lies close to international borders, making it a critical area for security operations due to cross-border movements of insurgents.

Authorities say maintaining control of such locations is essential in preventing infiltration and ensuring regional stability.

The military reiterates its commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist groups and preventing them from regrouping or launching further attacks.

Residents in the region are also encouraged to support security efforts by providing timely and credible information to authorities.

Security agencies emphasize that collaboration between the military and local communities remains vital in addressing insurgency.

The latest operation is seen as a strong message to insurgent groups that security forces remain prepared and capable of defending key locations.

As efforts continue, military authorities assure Nigerians that operations will be sustained to restore lasting peace and security in the region.

For now, the successful defense of Mallam Fatori stands as a significant milestone in ongoing counter-insurgency efforts in Borno State and the wider North-East region of Nigeria.
