President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dismissed claims of religious genocide in Nigeria, stressing that no faith group is under siege. Speaking in Owerri, Imo State, on Tuesday, the President said Nigerians have grown beyond division and now embrace their cultural and religious diversity as a strength for national progress. He made the remarks at the launch of a book authored by Governor Hope Uzodimma to mark 10 years of the APC in government. According to Mediaplusng.com, Tinubu insisted that “our churches, mosques, and shrines stand side by side as symbols of unity, not rivalry.”
While commissioning key projects, including the Owerri-Mbaise-Umahia road, the Assumpta Twin Flyover, and the Emmanuel Iwuayanwu Convention Centre, the President praised APC’s contributions since 2015. He noted that under former President Muhammadu Buhari, the party stabilised the economy, invested in infrastructure, and improved accountability in governance. Although challenges remain, Tinubu said the worst is over, and Nigeria is on the path of sustainable growth. He emphasised that APC will not allow the country to slip back into “the wasted years of drift.” Mediaplusng.com reports that the event was attended by top political leaders, lawmakers, diplomats, and traditional rulers.
President Tinubu also assured the South-East of his administration’s commitment to inclusive development, adding that no region will be left behind under his Renewed Hope Agenda. He highlighted recent policies, such as regional development commissions and education support through NELFUND, as proof of his government’s resolve to deliver for all Nigerians. “We must guard our unity and ensure our diversity becomes our strength,” Tinubu said. According to Mediaplusng.com, Governor Uzodimma commended the president for empowering states with higher allocations that have enabled progress in education, health, and infrastructure.
