NSA, Security Chiefs to Address U.S. Claims on Alleged Attacks in Nigeria

Nigeria’s Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and top security chiefs are expected to hold a crucial briefing today following recent claims by the United States about alleged attacks on Christians in the country.

According to Mr. Lanre Issa-Onilu, the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), the briefing will address statements credited to former U.S. President Donald Trump, who reportedly threatened to deploy American troops to Nigeria over the allegations.

Speaking at the monthly National Joint Security Press Briefing in Abuja, Issa-Onilu described the U.S. claims as false and misleading, calling them “a failure of American intelligence.” He emphasized that Nigeria remains fully committed to the fight against terrorism and religious intolerance.

He further urged the media to report security matters responsibly, warning that unverified reports could undermine the government’s efforts to maintain peace and unity across the country.

The upcoming NSA briefing, he said, will provide more clarity on the government’s position and outline steps being taken to counter misinformation about Nigeria’s security situation.
