NSCDC Intercepts 204 Vandalized NNPCL Pipes, Arrests Five Suspects in Adamawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Adamawa State Command, has intercepted 204 vandalized iron pipes believed to be part of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) fuel supply pipeline network.

According to Mediaplusng.com, the pipes were allegedly dug out from an NNPCL supply line and loaded from a bush around Mararaba Abbare in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State before being transported out of the area.

Speaking to journalists at the NSCDC headquarters in Yola, the Commandant of the Corps, Idris Dahiru-Bande, confirms that five suspects have been arrested and are currently in custody. He explains that the suspects were caught while transporting the vandalized pipes along the Jalingo–Numan road, en route to Yobe State.

During the parade at the command headquarters, one of the suspects, Adamu Bawa, reportedly admitted to being part of the illegal operation. Officials from NNPCL, including Mohammed Kacha, the company’s Yola Terminal representative, have since identified the recovered pipes as genuine NNPCL property.

The NSCDC maintains that investigations are ongoing to uncover other members of the vandalism syndicate. The Commandant warns those involved in such acts to desist, stressing that vandalism of public infrastructure is an economic sabotage punishable under Nigerian law.

This latest interception, as reported by Mediaplusng.com, highlights the renewed commitment of the NSCDC to protect national assets and curb crude oil and fuel pipeline vandalism across the country.
