The Ogun State Judiciary has introduced new reforms in its bail bondsmen scheme with the launch of the 2025 Bondsmen Regulations and Practice Directions. The reforms are designed to strengthen professionalism, accountability, and transparency within the state’s justice system.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the announcement was made during the Second Bondsmen Stakeholders’ Forum at the Judiciary Complex, Kobape Road, Abeokuta. Speaking at the event, the Chief Judge of Ogun State, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, revealed that the scheme has facilitated the release of nearly 10,000 defendants on bail since it was established in 2020.
Justice Dipeolu explained that the initiative has played a key role in reducing congestion in correctional centres, curbing corruption in the bail process, and restoring public trust in the judiciary. She noted that the reforms would further strengthen the efficiency of the bail system and enhance access to justice.
