Troops of the Joint Task Force, North West, under Operation Fansan Yamma, are recording fresh success in the fight against terrorism and banditry, as coordinated military operations lead to the killing of terrorists and the rescue of dozens of abducted victims in Kebbi and Zamfara states.

According to Mediaplusng.com, the operations are carried out by troops operating under Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma, working closely with other security agencies and local vigilante groups to dismantle criminal networks threatening communities across the North-West.

In Kebbi State, troops act on credible intelligence to ambush suspected members of the Lakurawa terrorist group near the border between Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State and Binji Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The operation takes place around Kerani Village, a known transit route for armed groups operating along the border communities.

Military sources confirm that two terrorists are neutralised during the encounter, while security forces recover two motorcycles believed to be used by the group for mobility and operations in remote areas.

As gathered by Mediaplusng.com, the recovered motorcycles are fitted for long-distance movement, indicating the level of preparation by the terrorists to evade security patrols and carry out attacks across multiple locations.

In a separate but related operation in Zamfara State, troops storm Munhaye Forest, a well-known hideout of bandits operating in the area, following intelligence reports of abducted victims being held captive within the forest.

The operation focuses on degrading the operational base of the bandits and rescuing civilians held in captivity. Troops successfully secure the area and rescue 62 kidnapped persons, including men, women, and children, without resistance.

The rescued victims are immediately moved to a safe location, where they receive medical attention and welfare support from security agencies and humanitarian partners. Efforts are ongoing to reunite them with their families and communities.

Military authorities say the success of the operations reflects improved intelligence gathering, better coordination among security forces, and stronger collaboration with local vigilantes who provide critical information about criminal movements.

They note that forests and border communities have become major hideouts for terrorists and bandits, making joint and intelligence-driven operations essential to restoring peace and security in the region.

The Army stresses that Operation Fansan Yamma remains committed to sustaining pressure on criminal elements until their networks are completely dismantled and communities are safe to resume normal activities.

Residents of affected communities have commended the security forces for their swift response and renewed presence, saying the operations have boosted confidence and reduced fear among locals.

Security officials also urge members of the public to continue supporting ongoing operations by providing timely and credible information to security agencies, assuring that such cooperation will remain confidential.

The military reassures Nigerians that the North-West remains a top priority in current security operations, with troops maintaining aggressive patrols, targeted raids, and search-and-rescue missions across flashpoints.

Authorities say the latest success sends a strong signal to terrorists and bandits that there will be no safe haven for criminal activities, as security forces intensify efforts to protect lives, property, and national stability.
