Troops of Operation Hadin Kai record another major success after neutralising five terrorists and rescuing three abducted civilians during a coordinated security operation in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

According to information made available to Mediaplusng.com, the operation takes place in the early hours of January 4, 2026, when troops, working closely with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), engage suspected terrorist elements at a known crossing point along the Sojiri axis of Konduga.

Military authorities say the encounter leads to the successful elimination of five terrorists, with no casualties recorded on the side of the troops. The outcome, according to the military, reflects effective planning, strong intelligence gathering, and professional execution by the security forces involved in the mission.

The operation also results in the rescue of three civilians who were earlier abducted by the terrorists, Mediaplusng.com reports. In addition, troops recover several weapons, including AK-47 rifles, further degrading the operational capacity of the armed group in the area.

The Theatre Command of Operation Hadin Kai explains that the mission highlights the ongoing commitment of the Armed Forces to offensive operations against terrorist elements while prioritising the protection of civilians. It also underscores the growing importance of collaboration between the military and local security groups such as the CJTF in tackling insecurity across the North-East.

Security sources note that Konduga Local Government Area remains a strategic location due to its proximity to other volatile zones, making sustained military presence and patrols critical to preventing terrorist movement and regrouping.

Military leadership further states that the morale of troops within the theatre remains high, despite the evolving and challenging security environment. Forces continue to maintain dominance through routine patrols, targeted operations, and community-based intelligence support.

The Armed Forces reiterate their resolve to sustain pressure on terrorist groups until peace and stability are fully restored in Borno State and the wider North-East region. Residents are also encouraged to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to aid ongoing operations.

Operation Hadin Kai remains a key component of Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts, focusing on degrading terrorist networks, rescuing abducted victims, and creating a safer environment for communities affected by years of insurgency.
