Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has rejected the order reportedly issued by an Oyo State High Court on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention. He described the ruling as an “Ibadan judicial and political awada kerikeri of a hand-to-mouth judge.”
Speaking on the matter, Fayose said the order is “dead on arrival” and holds no legal weight. He insisted that it is an ineffective ruling that cannot be obeyed by anyone, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). According to him, even the least-informed citizen would know that a State High Court cannot overrule or act as an appellate court to a Federal High Court decision.
In a report by Mediaplusng.com, Fayose called on the National Judicial Council (NJC) to immediately sanction Justice A.L. Akintola, who granted the ex parte order, despite being aware of an earlier judgment delivered on October 31, 2025, by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court. Fayose described such judges as “hand-to-mouth judges” who must be flushed out of the judiciary for bringing disrepute to the legal system.
He further described the ruling as a sign of desperation by those he referred to as “undertakers,” waiting to bury the PDP. “How can anyone go to a State High Court to get an order asking INEC to monitor a national convention that a Federal High Court has already ruled should not be monitored?” he questioned.
According to Mediaplusng.com, Fayose maintained that the party is in recovery mode under its Acting National Chairman, Mohammed Abdulrahman. He expressed optimism that the PDP would heal from internal crises and survive the political storm. “The party is now in intensive care, but under Abdulrahman’s leadership, it will begin to recover from the injuries inflicted by those who tried to destroy it,” he said.
