The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed allegations that the party’s National Secretary, Mr. Samuel Anyanwu, was a victim of signature forgery. Speaking to journalists at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, the spokesperson described the claim as false and misleading.
Mr. Anyanwu had earlier petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), alleging that his signature was forged on letters sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The letters, according to him, were used to inform INEC of the date, time, and venue for the party’s elective convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan.
However, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary insisted that Mr. Anyanwu personally signed the letters in question. He presented copies of communications between Mr. Anyanwu and other members of the party’s leadership, as well as his correspondence with the Contact and Mobilization Committee, where he served as secretary.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the PDP spokesperson emphasized that the party remains focused on preparing for a transparent and successful convention. He urged members to disregard distractions and remain united, assuring that the leadership is committed to internal democracy and due process.
