Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC), led by former Minister of Justice, Tanimu Turaki, hold a joint meeting with former governors and ministers elected and appointed on the platform of the party. The meeting takes place as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen internal unity and reposition the PDP after its recent national convention.

According to Mediaplusng.com, the high-level meeting is one of several consolidation engagements scheduled by the Turaki-led leadership to rally support from influential party stakeholders following the November 15 and 16 national elective convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The meeting brings together prominent PDP figures, including former Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, and former Governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau. Several former ministers are also in attendance, with many of them having served during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Mediaplusng.com reports that the engagement focuses on rebuilding trust, fostering inclusiveness, and aligning key party leaders behind a common vision for the PDP’s future. Party sources say the leadership is keen on tapping into the experience of former office holders to stabilise the party and prepare it for upcoming political contests.

Discussions at the meeting centre on party unity, reconciliation, and strategies for strengthening grassroots structures across the country. Participants also review outcomes of the recent convention and examine ways to consolidate gains made during the leadership transition.

The Turaki-led NWC emphasises the importance of collective ownership of the party’s direction, stressing that sustained dialogue with elders and experienced members remains critical to restoring confidence within the PDP.

The meeting is expected to be followed by similar engagements with other blocs and stakeholders within the party as the PDP intensifies efforts to present a united front and reposition itself as a strong opposition ahead of future elections.
