PDP Says Court Ruling Won’t Stop Its Planned National Convention

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the recent judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja, delivered by Justice Kolawole Omotosho, will not stop its plans to hold a National Convention to elect new party officials.

In a statement released by the National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP describes the ruling as “an assault on Nigeria’s democratic process.” The party insists that the judgment does not in any way affect its ability to proceed with preparations and activities leading to the national convention.

According to Mediaplusng.com, the PDP emphasizes that the Supreme Court has already affirmed the supremacy of political parties in managing their internal affairs. The opposition party, therefore, urges all its members, chapters, and organs to remain focused and united as preparations continue for the convention.

The PDP also reassures its supporters that it remains a party guided by the rule of law. As reported by Mediaplusng.com, the leadership has directed its legal team to appeal the judgment immediately, stressing its commitment to defend and promote Nigeria’s multi-party democracy.

The statement concludes by reaffirming the PDP’s determination to strengthen internal democracy and ensure credible leadership within the party as it moves toward the next phase of national political engagement.
