The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended four top national officers for one month. Those affected include the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade; National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu; Deputy Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha; and National Organizing Secretary, Umaru Bature.
The suspension follows a recent judgment by the Federal High Court on Friday, which halted the party’s planned national convention. According to the NWC, the move is part of efforts to maintain order and discipline within the party amid ongoing internal challenges.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, confirmed the decision after an emergency meeting of the NWC. He said the suspension was necessary to allow the committee to review the roles of the affected officers in recent party activities and ensure full compliance with the court’s directive.
Mediaplusng.com reports that the PDP leadership has been facing internal wrangling over the control of party structures ahead of the next general elections. The suspension of the four national officers marks another significant twist in the ongoing power tussle within the opposition party.
Observers say the coming days will determine how the PDP navigates this crisis and whether the move will help restore unity or deepen existing divisions.
