The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Rivers State Chapter, is raising serious concerns over the worsening political crisis in the state, urging political actors to embrace restraint, dialogue, and repentance to prevent further instability.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the PFN says the rising tension, insecurity, and unhealthy political practices threaten peace and development in Rivers State and must be urgently addressed through sincere engagement and moral responsibility.
The Chairman of PFN in the state, Rev. Minaibi Dagogo-Jack, states this during a press briefing in Port Harcourt, where he expresses deep worry over the direction of political activities in the state. He says the Fellowship watches current developments with “great dismay,” noting that the persistent crisis is affecting governance, public trust, and social harmony.
Rev. Dagogo-Jack explains that the Church cannot remain silent while political conflicts continue to fuel unrest and uncertainty among the people. He emphasizes that Rivers State, known for its economic importance and vibrant population, deserves stability and leadership anchored on integrity, justice, and service.
As reported by Mediaplusng.com, the PFN chairman stresses that the Church is unhappy with the level of hostility, political intolerance, and insecurity being experienced across the state, warning that continued escalation could have long-term consequences for residents and investors alike.
He calls on political leaders, supporters, and stakeholders to sheath their swords and return to the path of peace, dialogue, and reconciliation. According to him, political power should not come at the expense of lives, unity, and the collective future of Rivers people.
Rev. Dagogo-Jack also urges politicians to reflect deeply, seek forgiveness where necessary, and put the interest of the state above personal or factional ambitions. He says genuine repentance and humility are critical steps toward resolving the crisis and restoring calm.
The PFN chairman reveals that the Church is closely monitoring political developments ahead of the 2027 general elections. He notes that the Fellowship will not shy away from supporting a candidate who demonstrates credible leadership, peace-building capacity, and a clear commitment to ending the recurring political turmoil in Rivers State.
He clarifies that such support will be based on moral values, competence, and the ability to unite the state, not on party affiliation or personal interests. According to him, the Church’s primary concern is the well-being of the people and the long-term stability of the state.
Rev. Dagogo-Jack further calls on security agencies to remain professional and impartial in the discharge of their duties, adding that fairness and justice are essential in managing politically sensitive situations.
The PFN also appeals to youths and supporters of various political groups to resist violence and manipulation, reminding them that they bear the greatest burden whenever crises escalate.
The Fellowship reiterates its commitment to praying for Rivers State and engaging relevant stakeholders to promote peace, dialogue, and responsible leadership. Rev. Dagogo-Jack concludes by expressing hope that with collective effort and sincere leadership, Rivers State can overcome its political challenges and return to a path of peace and progress.
