Vice President Kashim Shettima says the formal entry of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, into the All Progressives Congress (APC) confirms the party as a truly national platform open to all Nigerians committed to unity, peace, and inclusive development. He describes the APC as the destination for citizens who believe in a united future for the country.

According to Mediaplusng.com, Shettima speaks on Tuesday at the Jos Polo Field during the grand reception of Governor Mutfwang and his supporters into the APC. He says the political realignment reflects Nigeria’s shared destiny and underscores the party’s commitment to national unity beyond ethnic, religious, or regional lines.

The Vice President recalls Plateau State’s historic role in Nigeria’s unity, paying tribute to former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, and other leaders from the state who helped preserve the nation during difficult times. He says Plateau’s legacy shows that nations thrive through reconciliation and shared purpose, not division.

Shettima also conveys assurances from President Bola Tinubu that Governor Mutfwang will enjoy full recognition and standing within the APC, Mediaplusng.com reports. He adds that good governance strengthens any political movement focused on national progress and inclusive leadership.

Commending Governor Mutfwang, the Vice President describes him as a unifying leader whose administration is repositioning Plateau from conflict to peace and development. He highlights initiatives in peacebuilding, renewable energy for primary healthcare centres, agricultural support for farmers, transport revival, and people-focused budgets in education, health, and youth empowerment.

Shettima further says Plateau’s entry into the APC reflects the party’s readiness to embrace diversity and build consensus across political, ethnic, and religious divides. He notes that Plateau’s contributions to Nigeria go beyond politics into commerce, education, culture, and peacebuilding.

Earlier, Senate President Godswill Akpabio praises APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, for leading the party’s expansion in Plateau State. He describes Governor Mutfwang’s defection as a major boost that completes APC’s presence in the North Central region and assures the governor of victory in 2027.

Akpabio also says President Tinubu remains a leader for all Nigerians, regardless of faith, and offers prayers for victims of past crises in Plateau State. He pledges that the National Assembly will support funding for the resettlement of displaced persons in Plateau and other conflict-affected areas.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, calls the event historic, noting that Plateau is the last North Central state to join the APC. He urges Governor Mutfwang to embrace reconciliation and lead the party in the state as a father figure to all.

APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, describes the governor’s entry as massive, revealing that many former opposition candidates are now joining the APC. He expresses confidence that Plateau State will support President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 and that peace and social justice will be sustained through unity.

Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, says the APC is bringing renewed hope to Plateau State. He describes Governor Mutfwang as one of the best leaders and assures that the state will prosper more under APC alignment.

In his remarks, Governor Mutfwang says Plateau State joins the APC to strengthen its support for President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 and to reposition the state for greater development. He praises the President’s commitment to national progress and unity and credits Vice President Shettima for encouraging his decision to defect.

Governor Mutfwang urges Nigerians to work together to stabilise and rebuild the country, stressing that the move to the APC is driven by the need to deliver peace, growth, and inclusive governance for the people of Plateau State and Nigeria at large.
