According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the arrests followed a series of coordinated investigations by operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Minna, and other divisional commands. Thirteen additional suspects were later apprehended for their roles in the theft of navigation lock metals and beams at the Kainji Power Plant. The stolen items, worth more than ₦4.8 billion, were taken from the navigation lock yard of the power facility.
Among those arrested are two staff members of Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited (MSEL): 51-year-old Store Keeper, Abubakar Jibril, and 53-year-old Business Risk/Internal Control Officer, Abdullateef Musa.
