The Plateau State Police Command is intensifying its crackdown on criminal activities, recording multiple arrests including a suspected kidnap kingpin, arms traffickers, and other crime suspects across the state.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, Bassey Ewah, confirms that the successes stem from intelligence-driven operations and strong collaboration between law enforcement and the public.
Speaking to journalists in Jos, the Commissioner states that the recent operations demonstrate the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while sustaining pressure on criminal networks.
Among the major breakthroughs is the arrest of Aminu Adamu, identified by the police as a suspected leader of a kidnapping syndicate operating in Bassa Local Government Area.
Police explain that the suspect is apprehended following credible intelligence linking him to several kidnapping incidents, adding that investigations are ongoing before prosecution.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the Command also records success in a related anti-kidnapping operation, where two suspects are arrested in connection with an abduction case along the Qua’an Pan axis.
Items retrieved from the suspects include mobile phones, SIM cards, and other materials believed to support ongoing investigations into their alleged criminal activities.
In another development, officers arrest three individuals linked to illegal arms trafficking, recovering an AK-47 rifle, magazines, and live ammunition during the operation.
Police say one of the suspects confesses to owning the weapons and admits procuring them from Vom before distributing them within a criminal network.
Authorities confirm that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate, as part of a broader strategy to curb the proliferation of illegal arms in Plateau State.
In Bokkos Local Government Area, operatives arrest a suspect found in possession of a revolver and live cartridges, while another suspect is apprehended in Jos North with a locally fabricated firearm.
Police attribute one of the arrests to actionable intelligence provided by a concerned citizen, reinforcing the importance of community participation in crime prevention.
In Shendam Local Government Area, officers arrest a suspect linked to an armed robbery incident involving the theft of a motorcycle, livestock, farm produce, and cash.
Police confirm that while one suspect is in custody, efforts are ongoing to track down others connected to the crime.
The Command also reveals the discovery of a human trafficking operation, where a suspect allegedly deceives young women with promises of employment abroad but exploits them for commercial sex work in Ghana.
Police further confirm arrests in cases involving alleged rape and abuse of minors in different parts of the state, noting that investigations are underway.
All suspects are currently undergoing investigation and are expected to be charged to court upon completion of legal procedures.
The Commissioner reiterates that the Command remains determined to eliminate criminal elements and ensure justice is served across Plateau State.
Residents are urged to remain alert and continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies to support ongoing operations.
Security remains a shared responsibility.
The Plateau State Police Command stresses that effective policing relies on cooperation between law enforcement and the public, as authorities continue to intensify efforts to maintain peace and stability.
