The Bauchi State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation after impounding 387 blocks of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa in Toro Local Government Area of the state.
According to reports by Mediaplusng.com, the discovery follows a motor vehicle accident involving a car transporting the suspected drugs from Plateau State to Bauchi. The driver reportedly fled the scene before the police arrived.
Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, confirms that the command is conducting a manhunt for the fleeing driver and has vowed to ensure those behind the illegal transportation are brought to justice. The seized items have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and legal action.
In another development, the Bauchi State Police Command has held an interactive session with community stakeholders as part of activities marking Customer Service Week. The forum brings together representatives from the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), journalists, and the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to discuss challenges in policing and justice delivery.
CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu emphasizes the need for improved coordination between the Police and the Judiciary to ensure timely prosecution of cases. He also highlights the command’s efforts in tackling gender-based violence and improving conviction rates through better investigation and community cooperation.
