The Nigeria Police Force has recorded major successes in the ongoing fight against violent crime. In coordinated operations carried out in Katsina and Delta States, officers rescued 11 kidnapped victims, arrested suspected kidnappers, and recovered a large number of illegal arms and ammunition.
On June 8, 2025, police operatives and other security agencies under the Joint Task Force (JTF) stopped a kidnapped attempt along the Danmusa–Mara Dangeza road in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State. A gun battle broke out between the team and the armed bandits. The suspects were overpowered and fled with gunshot wounds, allowing officers to rescue 11 kidnapped victims unharmed.
Key Kidnap Suspect Arrested in Delta State
In another breakthrough, police operatives in Delta State arrested a 30-year-old man, Abubakar Hassan, believed to be a leader in a cross-state kidnapping gang operating across Delta, Rivers, Imo, and Enugu States. Acting on credible intelligence, officers tracked him to a forest hideout in Ozoro. Two AK-47 rifles, four magazines, and 32 rounds of ammunition were recovered. His arrest follows the earlier capture of three members of the same gang.
Also, in Delta, Safer Highway Patrol officers intercepted a suspicious vehicle during a routine stop-and-search along Ughelli Road. A locally made revolver, a pump-action single-barrel rifle, and 15 live cartridges were recovered. The driver, identified as 38-year-old Obi Ezekiel, was taken into custody.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, praised the bravery and professionalism of the officers involved. He encouraged all police commands nationwide to maintain the momentum in tackling violent crime.
