Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Sunday Kelvin Aneke (NAF/2182) is a respected officer in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), known for his dedication, discipline, and outstanding service record. Born on February 20, 1972, in Makurdi, Benue State, to the family of Air Warrant Officer (Rtd) Sylvester and Mrs. Ngozi Aneke, he hails from Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.
He attended Army Children School, New Cantonment ‘A’ NDA Kaduna (1976–1982) for his primary education and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. He later proceeded to Government College Kaduna (1982–1987), where he earned his West African School Certificate.
Military Career and Education
AVM Aneke began his military journey on September 10, 1988, when he joined the Nigerian Defence Academy as part of the 40th Regular Combatant Course. He was commissioned as a pilot officer on September 10, 1993.
He holds a B.Sc. in Physics, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from the University of Calabar, and a Master’s in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. In addition, he earned another Master’s in Political Economy and Development Studies from the University of Abuja and is currently pursuing a PhD.
AVM Aneke also holds a Professional Certificate in Aviation Safety Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona, Florida, United States.
Training and Career Progression
Throughout his career, AVM Aneke has attended several military courses and training programs, both in Nigeria and abroad. He completed Aeromechanical Engineering Training at the Air Force Institute of Technology, as well as Ab-initio and Basic Flying Training at the 401 Flying Training School, Kaduna.
He graduated from the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, and obtained Master’s in Strategic Studies from the US Air War College, Montgomery, Alabama.

AVM Aneke has participated in several local and international operations, including Operation Restore Hope in the Niger Delta and UN Operations in Congo. His expertise in intelligence, flight safety, and operational command has earned him recognition as one of the Air Force’s most dependable officers.
He is licensed as an Advanced Transport Pilot, with over 4,359 flying hours, and is certified on several aircraft, including the Dornier 228, Falcon 900, Gulfstream V, and Hawker 4000.
