Major General Emmanuel Akomaye Parker Undiandeye, Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Intelligence, is a distinguished military officer whose career reflects excellence, discipline, and dedication to national and global security.

Born on September 2, 1968, in Bedia, Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State, General Undiandeye hails from the family of Mr. Sylvanus and Mrs. Maria Undiandeye. His passion for service began early, leading him to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna, where he started his military journey. He later proceeded to the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, United Kingdom, where he completed his cadet training as part of Standard Military Course 922.

Throughout his career, General Undiandeye has attended several prestigious military and academic institutions. These include the Nigerian Army College of Logistics in Lagos, Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, and the National Defence University in Washington D.C., USA. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the University of Ibadan and attended advanced programs at the Harvard Kennedy School of Executive Administration in the United States.

Career and Achievements

According to Mediaplusng.com, General Undiandeye has served in several key positions across the Nigerian Armed Forces. His notable appointments include Chief of Staff at the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps, where he coordinated operational intelligence gathering, analysis, and dissemination. He also served as Director of Lessons Learnt at the Army Headquarters Department of Transformation and Innovation, and Director of Foreign Liaison at the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA)

He has also contributed to national development as a Senior Research Fellow at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Director of Psychological Warfare at the Defence Headquarters, and Deputy Commandant at the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre. Before his current role, he was the Commandant of the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre, Jaji.

Internationally, General Undiandeye has represented Nigeria in several United Nations peacekeeping missions. He served as Deputy Chief Operations Officer for the UN Mission in Liberia, Deputy Chief of Assessments at the UN Headquarters in New York, and as a pioneer staff member of the UN Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), which helped prevent conflict between Sudan and South Sudan.

On June 23, 2023, he officially assumed office as the 17th Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI), a position that places him at the center of Nigeria’s intelligence coordination and defense strategy.

Honours and Personal Life

General Undiandeye’s outstanding service has earned him several awards and decorations, including the Grand Service Star (GSS), Defence Meritorious Star (DMS), Defence Administration Medal (DAM), Field Command Medal (FCM), and the Training Support Medal (TSM). He also holds international honors such as the United Nations Headquarters Medal and recognition as an International Counterterrorism Fellow (ICTF).

He is a Fellow of the National Defence College (fdc), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Administration (FCAI), Fellow of the International Institute of Professional Security (FIIPS), and Fellow of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (FNARC).

Outside military service, Major General Undiandeye is a family man. He is married to Mrs. Jane Ekor Undiandeye, and they are blessed with three children. In his leisure time, he enjoys reading, playing golf, photography, and nature watching.
