A host of high-profile figures from Nigeria’s political, military, and religious circles converged in Daura, Katsina State, for a special prayer session held in honour of the deceased.
Among the dignitaries in attendance are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari, and Director-General of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Retd).
Others seated at the event include the Emir of Daura, HRH Dr. Faruk Umar Faruk, former Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Retd), former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami (SAN), former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, and serving Senator Abdul’Aziz Yar’adua.
Also, in attendance are respected community leaders, traditional rulers, and Islamic scholars from across the country, all gathered to pay their respects through prayers and acts of charity.
The solemn ceremony includes Qur’anic recitations, special prayers, and charitable donations made on behalf of the departed. The gathering highlights the unity of purpose among Nigeria’s elite and their shared commitment to honouring tradition and faith.
The event reflects the deep respect for Islamic rites and the value placed on communal remembrance, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds to celebrate the life and legacy of the deceased.
