Inclusive process: Sanwo-Olu called for every demographic—“men and women, young and old”—to have a voice in reshaping the nation’s supreme law.
Top reform priorities:
True federalism and devolution of powers
Stronger, better-funded local governments
Consideration of new states for grassroots governance
Electoral and judicial reforms
Greater women and youth representation in politics
State policing and citizen security
The governor praised the panel for choosing Lagos, saying the move underscores the state’s importance to Nigeria’s democratic journey.
He reaffirmed that the state “remains devoted to democracy, good governance, and the rule of law,” pledging continued support for a transparent review.
The Senate Committee on Constitution Review will collect submissions today and throughout the zonal tour before drafting proposed amendments for National Assembly debate later this year.
Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that the dialogue “will move Nigeria closer to the nation of our dreams.”
