Seven Dead in Fatal Accident on Gombe–Yola Road

The Gombe State Police Command confirms a deadly motor vehicle accident along the Gombe–Yola Road at Ladongor Village, Billiri LGA, on December 29, 2025.

Mediaplusng.com reports that the accident involved a Hummer bus (GOMBE NUJ-01) owned by the National Union of Journalists (NUJ), Gombe State Chapter. The bus, carrying eleven passengers—mostly staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Gombe—was en route from Kaltungo when the left rear tyre reportedly burst. The driver, Obe Emmanuel Akila, aged 50, lost control, causing the vehicle to somersault into the bush.

Emergency responders from Billiri Division rushed the injured to Amana Clinic, Billiri. Three passengers, including the driver—Jonathan Bara, Stephen Dodo, and Nina Gadam—sustained injuries and were referred to the Specialist Hospital for further treatment.

Mediaplusng.com adds that seven passengers were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. The deceased include Jibrin Tabra, Manu Haruna Kwami, Zara Umar Adamu, Aminu Muhammad, Isah Lawal, Adam Snu, and Judith Snu.

The Gombe State Police Command expresses condolences to the families of the victims, the NUJ Gombe Chapter, and NTA staff. Authorities remind road users to prioritize safety and ensure vehicles are in proper condition before travel.
