Vice President Kashim Shettima reaffirms the Federal Government’s commitment to empowering the Nigerian Armed Forces to tackle insecurity and protect lives and property across the country. He says the administration of President Bola Tinubu remains focused on equipping the military with the tools and support needed to address security threats nationwide.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the Vice President gives the assurance during a special Juma’at prayer held at the National Mosque, Abuja, to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day. He pays tribute to fallen officers and soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of Nigeria’s territorial integrity and national unity.
Shettima expresses confidence that Nigeria is on the path to lasting peace and stability under President Tinubu’s leadership. He notes that the courage and dedication of the Armed Forces continue to inspire hope, even in the face of complex security challenges confronting the nation.
Mediaplusng.com reports that the Vice President also offers prayers for departed military personnel and their families. He asks God to grant eternal rest to fallen heroes and strength to their loved ones, while praying for divine protection and empowerment for serving officers and men battling insecurity across the country.
He further prays that, with sustained support and collective effort, Nigeria will overcome its security challenges and enjoy enduring peace and prosperity in the near future. Shettima stresses that national unity and faith remain critical in confronting threats to peace and stability.
January 15 is observed annually by the Federal Government to honour members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. The day serves as a moment of reflection, gratitude, and national solidarity with both serving personnel and fallen heroes.
The Armed Forces recently renamed the event “Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day” to reflect its dual purpose of celebrating active service members while remembering those who lost their lives in the line of duty. The government says the occasion reinforces national appreciation for the military’s role in safeguarding Nigeria.
