Sowore Cautions Nigerians Against Celebrating Trump’s Threat Over Alleged Christian Genocide

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, is warning Nigerians not to celebrate U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments about alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria.

President Trump, on Friday, labelled Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” over reported attacks on Christians, accusing the Nigerian government of failing to protect religious groups. A day later, Trump warned that the United States might withdraw foreign aid and could even consider military intervention to target Islamic extremists behind the violence.

Reacting to the comments, Sowore described Trump’s remarks as dangerous and a threat to Nigeria’s sovereignty and peace. He said while some Nigerians may see Trump’s statement as support, they must remember that U.S. military interventions often make situations worse rather than better.

“The latest threat by U.S. President Donald Trump to launch military action in Nigeria, allegedly to protect Christians, may sound appealing to some,” Sowore said. “But history has shown this to be perilous,” he added, noting that countries such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and Syria did not achieve peace after similar foreign interventions.

According to Mediaplusng.com, Sowore believes that Nigeria’s problems can only be solved through responsible and accountable leadership, not by relying on outside powers. He said what Nigeria needs is leadership that protects all citizens, upholds justice, and tackles corruption and violence from within.

Sowore added, “Donald Trump does not care about Nigerians, Christians, Muslims, or anyone else. What we need is a government that truly serves its people.”

As reported by Mediaplusng.com, the activist urged citizens to focus on building stronger democratic institutions and holding leaders accountable rather than seeking external saviors.
