Suspected Lakurawa terrorists launch a deadly attack on a Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) checkpoint in Bakin Ruwa, along the Maje border in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing three officers on duty. The midnight assault increases fear among residents living in border communities.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the attackers storm the checkpoint without warning and open fire, leaving the officers dead on the spot. Local sources say the terrorists escape through nearby bushes before reinforcements arrive.
Security reports gathered by Mediaplusng.com show that the incident comes barely a month after a customs officer is killed and several vehicles are burnt during another attack in the same Maje border axis. The repeated attacks raise fresh concerns over the rising insecurity along the Nigeria–Benin border corridor in Bagudo.
The Lakurawa group has gained notoriety for violent activities targeting security personnel and civilians in parts of Kebbi State. While the motive behind the latest attack remains unclear, security agencies say investigations are ongoing. The Police Command spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirms the incident but notes that full details are still emerging.
Efforts to reach the Nigeria Immigration Service in the state are unsuccessful at the time of this report. However, several locals and security personnel in Bagudo, who speak anonymously, confirm the tragic development.
