Armed terrorists invade St. Mary’s Private (Catholic) Secondary School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, abducting several students in the early hours of Friday, November 21, 2025.
According to reports obtained by Mediaplusng.com, the attackers enter the community between 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m., overpower the security presence, and break into the school’s hostel before taking away an unconfirmed number of students.
A resident in Agwara confirms the incident, saying: “Yes, it happened between 3 and 4 a.m. The number of students abducted is not yet confirmed.”
Security agencies are immediately notified, and rescue efforts are now underway to verify the number of abducted students and begin coordinated search operations.
The Niger State Police Command also confirms the attack and the disappearance of several students. In a statement obtained from the Command and published by Mediaplusng.com, Police Public Relations Officer SP Wasiu Abiodu states that police tactical teams, the military, and other security operatives have been deployed to the area. Search operations are ongoing across the surrounding forests to secure the students’ safe return.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Elleman, vows that the Command is committed to rescuing all abducted students unharmed. He urges residents to stay calm and support security personnel with credible information that can aid rescue operations.
CP Elleman further says the attack will be thoroughly investigated. He notes that appropriate action will be taken against the school management for continuing academic activities despite the earlier state directive ordering schools in the area to shut down due to rising security threats.
