President Bola Tinubu says there is no going back on the directive to withdraw police officers attached to VIPs, VVIPs and some ministers. He makes this clear while opening the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House, warning ministers to comply immediately.
According to Mediaplusng.com, President Tinubu explains that police officers are trained to protect citizens—especially vulnerable communities—not a small group of privileged individuals. He directs the National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, the Minister of Police Affairs Ibrahim Gaidam, and the Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun to enforce the policy without delay.
The President adds that the Civil Defence Corps will take over VIP protection duties. As reported by Mediaplusng.com, Tinubu says this change will free up police officers to confront nationwide security threats such as kidnapping, banditry, and terrorism. He notes that the entire security structure will be reviewed to better protect communities at risk.
President Tinubu also tasks Vice President Kashim Shettima to brief governors on ranching reforms. He directs the Minister of Livestock, Idi Muktar Maiha, to fast-track the rehabilitation of grazing areas and promote ranching systems that reduce violent clashes between farmers and herders. Tinubu emphasises that states must play their constitutional role since land belongs to them.
