President Bola Tinubu mourns the passing of Olusegun Awolowo, grandson of the late Nigerian icon, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. The President says he is deeply saddened by the news and describes the loss as a painful moment for the Awolowo family and the entire nation.

In a statement obtained by Mediaplusng.com, President Tinubu reflects on Segun Awolowo’s impactful life and his strong connection to the Awolowo legacy. He notes that the late Segun Awolowo, who died at 62, stands out as a worthy representative of the Awolowo lineage.

According to the President, Segun Awolowo embodies the values of his grandfather—from his character to his calm disposition. Like Chief Awolowo, he is a lawyer who dedicates his life to truth, justice, and national development.

Mediaplusng.com reports that President Tinubu highlights Segun Awolowo’s notable achievements, especially his tenure as Executive Director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) from 2013 to 2021, where he becomes the longest-serving executive director in the agency’s history.

The President extends his condolences to Segun Awolowo’s wife, children, the entire Awolowo family, and his mother, Sisi Abah Folawiyo. He also sympathizes with the governments and people of Ogun State, the South-West region, and all Nigerians over what he calls a national loss.

President Tinubu prays for the repose of his soul and comfort for everyone affected by the loss.
