Tinubu Targets Q1 2026 for National Single Window Platform Take-Off

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has set the first quarter of 2026 as the official launch date for Nigeria’s National Single Window (NSW) platform—a digital initiative aimed at simplifying and accelerating the country’s trade and economic operations.

The directive was delivered on Tuesday at the fifth National Single Window Steering Committee meeting, held at the State House in Abuja. Representing the President was his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, who emphasized the administration’s commitment to transforming trade and economic systems through digital innovation.

Gbajabiamila highlighted that the recently signed Tax Reform Acts reflect the urgency of Nigeria’s pursuit of a $1 trillion economy and the need for timely implementation of critical reforms.

> “This project is a key part of President Tinubu’s transformation agenda. Meeting the 2026 deadline is crucial to improving efficiency, transparency, and investor confidence in Nigeria,” he stated.

The National Single Window is designed to unify all government agencies involved in import and export activities into a centralized digital portal. This is expected to reduce trade bottlenecks, increase revenue, and strengthen Nigeria’s global business credibility.

Gbajabiamila urged all relevant agencies to refine their Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and ensure that Phase 1 of the project goes live by Q1 2026.

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, described the progress so far as encouraging but stressed the urgency of shifting from planning to execution.

> “This is a complex but transformative project. We must collaborate closely and remove the remaining barriers,” Edun said.

Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, also reinforced the importance of meeting the rollout timeline, while FIRS Chairman Dr. Zacch Adedeji thanked President Tinubu for his unwavering support.

> “With the legal backing now in place, we must remain focused and committed to delivering results,” Adedeji noted.

Project Director Tola Fakolade confirmed that all second-quarter 2025 milestones have been met and that platform customization is underway.

Launched in April 2024, the National Single Window initiative is part of the Federal Government’s broader economic reform agenda. It aims to enhance Nigeria’s ease of doing business, reduce trade costs, and drive sustainable economic growth through digital transformation.
