President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigeria’s newly appointed service chiefs to perform their duties with renewed patriotism, dedication, and urgency, stressing that Nigerians are eager to see peace restored across the country. The President gave the charge during the official decoration ceremony of the new military chiefs in Abuja.
According to Mediaplusng.com, President Tinubu told the officers that the time for excuses is over, emphasizing that citizens are in a hurry to celebrate lasting peace and security. He encouraged them to embrace innovation, collaboration, and the use of technology to strengthen the nation’s defense and bring an end to terrorism and other forms of insecurity.
The President also called on the security heads to work as a united team and take proactive steps in safeguarding lives and property. “Be innovative, pre-emptive, and courageous,” he said, urging them to defeat enemies of the state once and for all.
Speaking on behalf of the newly decorated officers, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, pledged the service chiefs’ total commitment to fighting terrorism, insurgency, and organized crime to ensure national stability and economic growth.
In his remarks, General Oluyede assured the Commander-in-Chief of their unwavering loyalty and support for democratic governance, promising to deliver results that will strengthen citizens’ trust in the armed forces.
