Mediaplusng.com reports that the Federal Government has approved the appointment of Professor Mathew Adamu as the new Acting Vice-Chancellor of Yakubu Gowon University (formerly the University of Abuja).
According to an official statement, Professor Adamu’s appointment will run for three months, effective Monday, August 11, 2025.
The announcement was contained in a letter signed by Abel Enitan, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education. The letter, with reference number FME/HE/CU/50/12/97 and dated August 8, 2025, was titled “Appointment as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja.”
Mediaplusng.com reports that Professor Adamu succeeds Professor Patricia Manko Lar, who served in an acting capacity for six months after her appointment in February 2025.
The leadership change marks another chapter in the university’s ongoing academic and administrative development.
