Vice President Kashim Shettima arrives in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, to commiserate with the state government and people over the recent deadly attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area. The visit follows growing concerns over security and the impact of violent attacks on rural communities in the state.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the Vice President’s aircraft lands at the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport, Ilorin, at about 10:30am on Friday, marking a show of federal presence and solidarity with the affected communities.
Shettima is accompanied by the Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Zulum, Senator Ali Ndume, and former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege. The delegation underscores the seriousness with which the Federal Government views the attack and the need for coordinated national support.
Mediaplusng.com reports that the Vice President is received at the airport by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, alongside top political leaders and security officials in the state.
Among those present to welcome the Vice President are the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Engineer Yakubu Danladi Salihu; Senator Sadiq Umar, representing Kwara North Senatorial District; and Hon. Mukhtar Sagaya, member representing Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Also in attendance are senior security commanders, members of the Kwara State Executive Council, lawmakers, and several local government chairmen, reflecting a unified state response to the tragic incident.
The State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Sunday Fagbemi, along with other party executives, also joins in receiving the Vice President, highlighting the political and social importance of the visit.
During his visit, the Vice President is expected to meet with state officials and security agencies to review the situation in Kaiama Local Government Area and assess ongoing security measures. He is also expected to convey President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s condolences to the families of victims and the people of Kwara State.
The attack on Woro community has sparked renewed calls for improved security, intelligence gathering, and community protection, especially in border and rural areas prone to violent attacks.
