A 50-year-old widow and fashion designer, Mrs. Ifeoma Henrietta Ezewuike, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Lagos for attempting to traffic 1.3 kilograms of cocaine while disguising with a fake pregnancy.
According to reports obtained by Mediaplusng.com, Ezewuike, who runs Golden Star Creation, a fashion business in Okota, Lagos, was arrested at a bus terminal in Jibowu, Yaba, on Friday, August 22, 2025, while trying to transport the illicit consignment to Abuja. A follow-up search at her residence uncovered 200 grams of cutting agents used in processing cocaine. She confessed that she inherited the trade from her late husband, even though she had been in the fashion business for over 20 years.
In another operation, NDLEA officers intercepted 90 parcels of Loud (a strain of cannabis) weighing 48.6kg, hidden inside kitchen sinks imported from the United States. The illicit shipment was uncovered at a courier company in Lagos on Tuesday, August 19.
Meanwhile, NDLEA operatives intensified operations nationwide. According to Mediaplusng.com, over 75,544kg of skunk was destroyed in farmlands across Delta, Ondo, Edo, and Taraba States. Similarly, a total of 825,000 opioid pills were recovered in multiple raids across Kano, Adamawa, and Kogi States. In Abuja, two dispatch riders were also arrested for distributing drugs, while in Kwara State, three separate truck seizures led to the recovery of over 2,289kg of cannabis.
The NDLEA confirmed that its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign also continued with sensitization programmes in schools, mosques, churches, and workplaces across several states, including Katsina, Kano, and Abia.
NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the officers involved and urged them to sustain the momentum in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse.
