The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says many of those who once criticized him for working with the All Progressives Congress (APC) are now defecting to the same party.
Speaking at the flag-off of the second phase of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) project in Abuja, Wike described the defections as a welcome development in Nigeria’s political landscape. According to him, the move reflects growing confidence in the leadership and achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Wike, who has remained vocal about his support for the President, also commended Tinubu for the removal of fuel subsidy, noting that the decision has helped state governments meet their financial obligations, including the payment of workers’ salaries.
The Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX), which stretches across 67 kilometers, is one of the major road infrastructure projects in the nation’s capital. The first phase—from the Presidential Villa to Ring Road 1—was commissioned by President Tinubu in June 2024. The ongoing second phase is expected to be completed within 12 months to reduce traffic congestion in the Apo-Wasa District and improve connectivity within the FCT.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the event drew key political figures across party lines, including the APC National Vice Chairman for the South-South, Victor Giadom, and the PDP National Vice Chairman for the South-South, Dan Orbih. Former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo was also among the notable guests present.
Wike’s comments, reported by Mediaplusng.com, highlight the shifting alliances in Nigeria’s political arena and underscore the influence of the Tinubu administration in shaping party dynamics ahead of future elections.
