Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says details of the peace agreement reached between him and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will soon be disclosed to the people of Rivers State.

Wike made this known during a thank-you visit to Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State, where he said the peace deal brokered by President Tinubu was aimed at ending the prolonged political crisis in the state and restoring stability, according to Mediaplusng.com.

Although he did not mention names directly, the former Rivers governor accused Governor Fubara of failing to fully honour the agreement reached at the Presidential Villa. He said the people of Rivers deserve to know the truth, stressing that transparency remains key in political leadership.

Wike warned residents against trusting politicians who fail to keep their promises, noting that credibility and integrity are essential for sustainable governance. He added that politics without trust only creates instability and setbacks for the people, Mediaplusng.com reports.

Speaking on the political future of the state, Wike declared that Rivers people are politically alert and prepared ahead of the 2027 general elections. He insisted that money politics will not succeed in the state, adding that the will of the people will always prevail over financial influence.

The FCT minister explained that his visit to Tai was not for political campaigns but to appreciate the people for their support during the 2023 elections. He said their decision to stand with him and President Tinubu came with visible benefits.

According to Wike, the establishment of a federal university in Tai Local Government Area stands as a major reward for the people’s loyalty and commitment. He described the institution as a long-term investment that will drive development, create jobs, and improve access to higher education in the area.

Reflecting on the 2023 elections, Wike said the political journey was challenging but rewarding. He praised the people of Tai for taking a bold stand despite political pressure, noting that their courage has translated into tangible dividends of democracy.

Also speaking at the event, Senator Barry Mpigi, representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District, commended President Tinubu and Wike for what he described as unprecedented attention to the district. He said the people are experiencing improved governance, infrastructure development, and political inclusion.

Senator Mpigi assured Wike of continued support from the senatorial district, saying the people are committed to justice, equity, and fairness, which they believe the current administration represents.

Similarly, a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly representing Tai Constituency, Bernard Nbar, pledged the continued loyalty of his constituents to Wike. He said Tai people value integrity and stand firmly by leaders who keep their word.

Nbar described Wike’s visit as a sign of appreciation and strong political connection, assuring that Tai residents remain united in their support for leadership that delivers results.

The Chairman of Tai Local Government Council, Mbakpone Okpe, also expressed gratitude to Wike for the visit. He said the minister’s political guidance during the 2023 elections has continued to yield positive outcomes for the area.

Okpe listed several benefits enjoyed by the local government, including appointments, infrastructure projects, empowerment programmes, and improved federal presence. He said these developments have strengthened confidence in President Tinubu’s administration.

The council chairman concluded by assuring Wike that Tai people are ready to mobilise support for President Tinubu’s re-election and for candidates endorsed by the FCT minister, citing ongoing development and good governance as key reasons.

Wike, in his closing remarks, reaffirmed his commitment to the peace, unity, and development of Rivers State, stressing that the truth about the peace agreement will soon be revealed in the interest of accountability and lasting peace.
