The Yobe State Government is partnering with civil society organisations to strengthen efforts against violent extremism across the state. The initiative, led by the African Youth for Peace Development Foundation (AFRYDEV) in collaboration with other stakeholders, aims to create a unified action plan to prevent radicalisation and promote peace.
Speaking during the inauguration of the Technical Team of the Partnership Against Violent Extremism in Damaturu, the Executive Director of AFRYDEV, Maryam Aje, called for stronger collaboration between government institutions and civil society groups. She explained that the partnership seeks to build a sustainable framework that supports community resilience and prevents extremist ideologies from taking root.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the partnership will develop a comprehensive action plan to guide joint interventions by the state government and community-based organisations in addressing security and social challenges.
Also speaking, the Director of Public Prosecution in Yobe State, Barrister Yusuf Abdullahi, noted that despite the decline in insurgency, the state still faces rising cases of violent extremism. He said coordinated action between law enforcement, justice institutions, and community groups is essential to effectively counter the threat.
As reported by Mediaplusng.com, the Yobe State Government and its partners are committed to ensuring peace and stability by addressing the root causes of extremism through dialogue, education, and inclusive community engagement.
