PDP Zones 2027 Presidential Ticket to South, Retains Chairmanship in North

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the Southern region of Nigeria, while the party’s national chairmanship position will remain in the North.

According to a report by Mediaplusng.com, the decision was reached after high-level consultations among party stakeholders who believe the arrangement will strengthen internal unity and position the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Party insiders disclosed that zoning the presidential slot to the South is aimed at balancing regional interests, while retaining the national chairman’s seat in the North is expected to maintain inclusiveness and stability within the opposition.

Mediaplusng.com further noted that PDP leaders emphasized the importance of fairness, equity, and national cohesion in the decision, stressing that the zoning formula reflects the party’s commitment to power rotation.
