The Plateau State Police Command says it has recorded major breakthroughs in its renewed fight against crime across the state. Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, disclosed this during a press briefing on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the Police Headquarters in Jos
According to Mediaplusng.com, CP Adesina explained that the successes were achieved through the commitment of police officers, collaboration with other security agencies, and intelligence support from residents across Plateau State. He noted that these efforts have disrupted criminal networks that pose threats to peace and livelihood in the region.
One of the breakthroughs, he revealed, was the arrest of three suspected kidnappers and armed robbers identified as Jafaru Sale, Abdulsalam Adam, and Mamuda Musa. The suspects allegedly ambushed cattle sellers returning from Bukuru Market on July 27 in Kishika, Bassa Local Government Area, dispossessing them of over ₦1.9 million in cash, alongside mobile phones, knives, and other valuables.
Mediaplusng.com reports that the suspects confessed to their involvement in several armed robberies within Bassa and Jengre communities. They are currently being investigated at the State CID and will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigations.
In another operation, detectives from Langtang South Division acting on intelligence raided the residence of a suspected gun manufacturer, identified as Kokyak, in Mabudi on August 18. Although the suspect escaped before the raid, officers recovered a locally fabricated rifle with an empty magazine. CP Adesina assured that efforts are ongoing to track down the suspect for prosecution.
The Police Commissioner commended Plateau residents, the media, and security stakeholders for their role in maintaining peace. He described the support from citizens and accurate reportage by journalists as crucial to sustaining the fragile peace in the state.
To strengthen public trust, CP Adesina announced that the Police Public Relations Officer will release active emergency phone numbers of the Command’s management team, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders.
“I want to assure you that we as Command are doing everything within our constitutional powers to ensure that peace is restored on the Plateau,” he stated.
