The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has made the Preliminary Register of Voters for the 2027 General Election available online, following concerns from Nigerians and stakeholders over public access to the register.

The Commission says the decision is aimed at strengthening transparency, improving accessibility and boosting public confidence in the electoral process ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a press statement issued on Monday, October 26, 2026, and signed by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, the Commission says the online publication complements the physical display of the register already conducted nationwide.

According to INEC, the physical display exercise took place at Registration Areas across the country from October 9 to October 15, 2026, in line with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026.

The exercise provided registered voters with an opportunity to inspect their personal details and submit claims and objections where necessary.

However, following calls from Nigerians and other stakeholders for the register to be accessible online, the Commission has now decided to publish the same Preliminary Register of Voters on its official display platform.

Registered voters and other interested members of the public can access the register through https://display.inecnigeria.org to check the particulars contained in the preliminary records.

The online platform is expected to provide wider access to the register, particularly for voters who may have difficulty visiting designated Registration Areas to inspect their details.

INEC says it is continuing to process claims and objections arising from the display exercise in accordance with the Electoral Act, 2026.

The process is part of the preparations for the certification and publication of the Final Register of Voters, scheduled for December 15, 2026.

The final register is an important component of electoral preparations, as it establishes the certified list of eligible voters ahead of the general election.

The Commission has also expressed appreciation to Nigerians and stakeholders for their continued interest and constructive engagement in the electoral process.

INEC reiterates its commitment to transparency, accountability and the implementation of the Electoral Act, 2026, as it works towards delivering credible elections in 2027.

The Commission is urging public participation in the voter register verification process, which offers an opportunity to identify and address errors before the final register is certified.

For registered voters, checking their details and reporting discrepancies through the appropriate channels remain important steps towards protecting the integrity of the electoral process.

Mediaplusng.com reports that the online publication represents an additional access measure by INEC as preparations intensify for Nigeria’s 2027 General Election.
