Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has denied any involvement in the Federal High Court judgement that nullified the recognition of Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo-West Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.
Wike, who spoke while reacting to allegations linking him to the court decision, insisted that he neither instituted the case nor participated in the legal proceedings.
The FCT Minister also distanced himself from the political controversy surrounding the Rainbow Coalition, questioning why Governor Uzodimma appeared concerned about the political movement.
Wike suggested that suspicions about his involvement emerged because of comments attributed to Uzodimma shortly before the court delivered its judgement.
According to Wike, the governor had reportedly warned members of the coalition against participating in the political arrangement, threatening to seize their vehicles if they were seen supporting it.
Wike said the timing of the court judgement subsequently led some people to associate him with the development, an allegation he strongly rejected.
He maintained that he was not responsible for the legal action and questioned how he could be blamed for a case he claimed to have had no connection with.
The development adds another dimension to the growing political tensions surrounding the APC and the struggle for political influence ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The court decision and the reactions from the political actors involved are expected to keep the Imo political landscape in focus as preparations for the next electoral cycle gather momentum.
