Sanwo-Olu Appoints Six Permanent Secretaries

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of Olatunbosun Sunday Ogunbanwo and five other senior public servants as Permanent Secretaries in the Lagos State Civil Service.

The appointments take immediate effect, according to a circular dated October 13, 2026, signed by the state Head of Service, Bode Agoro.

Agoro says the appointments are aimed at reinvigorating the state’s policy implementation machinery and strengthening service delivery across government institutions.

Mediaplusng.com reports that Ogunbanwo, popularly known as Tubo, previously served as Director of Public Affairs at the Lagos State Ministry of Health.

He is described as an experienced professional in media relations and public communication strategy, with responsibilities that include communicating government policies, managing public information and supporting engagement between government institutions and the public.

His elevation to Permanent Secretary marks a new stage in his public service career.

The five other appointees are Dr. Mahadiyu Olawale Adegbite, Director of Medical Services at the Health Service Commission; Folashade Aina Thomas-Orogan, Director of State Counsel at the Ministry of Justice; and Mubashiru Adebayo Haroun, also Director of State Counsel at the Ministry of Justice.

Others are Margret Olayinka Oye-Bamgbose, Director of Administration and Human Resources at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, and Toyin Bilquees Adekoya, Principal and Director of Education District Six.

The appointments cover key areas of public administration, including healthcare, legal services, human resources, education and public communication.

As Permanent Secretaries, the appointees will be expected to contribute to the effective administration of their respective ministries, departments and agencies, subject to their eventual deployment and assigned responsibilities.

The position of Permanent Secretary is a senior administrative office in the civil service, with responsibilities that typically include policy implementation, institutional coordination, personnel management and ensuring continuity in government operations.

The Lagos State Government says the deployment of the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries will be announced in due course.

While congratulating the appointees, the Head of Service wishes them a successful tenure and urges them to contribute to the state’s public service objectives.

The appointments come as Lagos continues to rely on its civil service to implement government policies and deliver public services across the state.

The effectiveness of the new Permanent Secretaries will be measured by their ability to strengthen institutional performance, improve administrative efficiency and support the delivery of services to residents.
