The Nigeria Police Force reports a series of operational successes across several states, including arrests linked to suspected kidnapping, armed robbery and violent assault, the rescue of an abducted child, and the recovery of firearms and suspected illicit drugs.

In its operational summary for October 10, 2026, the Force says its personnel recorded results in Rivers, Cross River, Ekiti, Anambra, Kogi, Benue, Ogun and Zamfara states.

In Rivers State, police operatives arrest four suspected kidnappers linked to an incident along the Igwuruta and Etche axis. In a separate operation along Igbo-Etche Road, officers intercept a tricycle carrying four occupants and recover a G3 rifle and four rounds of live ammunition.

The suspects are being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department in Port Harcourt.

In Cross River State, police rescue an 11-year-old boy allegedly abducted and found tied up in a suspect’s room with injuries to his head. The suspect is arrested and taken into custody as investigations continue in Calabar.

Ekiti State records two separate operations. In the first, police arrest five suspects accused of invading a woman’s premises and severely assaulting her. Investigators say efforts are ongoing to prepare the case for prosecution.

In another operation, officers arrest a suspect who allegedly attempts to evade a stop-and-search checkpoint. Police recover an unregistered motorcycle, seven pairs of jeans, 20 T-shirts, four joggers and two face caps. Both cases are under investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department in Ado-Ekiti.

In Anambra State, police arrest a suspected armed robber linked to an incident in Awka. Items recovered from his hideout reportedly include a victim’s purse, an unregistered motorcycle, an axe and other exhibits. Police say efforts are continuing to apprehend an alleged accomplice who remains at large.

Meanwhile, in Kogi State, surveillance and patrol officers intercept a vehicle along Magongo Highway and arrest its driver. The operation leads to the recovery of approximately 300 kilogrammes of substances suspected to be Indian hemp. The State Criminal Investigation Department in Lokoja is investigating the case.

In Benue State, police say 17 foreign nationals are arrested following intelligence reports about alleged clandestine activities. According to the Force, the individuals entered Nigeria without valid travel documents and remain in custody while investigations continue. The authorities have not provided further details about the allegations against each individual.

In Ogun State, tactical teams respond to a reported kidnapping in Saapade, where two people are said to have been abducted. Officers recover spent AK-47 ammunition shells at the scene and launch coordinated search-and-rescue operations to locate the victims and apprehend those responsible.

In Zamfara State, security personnel respond to an armed bandit attack in Bardoki Village. The attackers reportedly flee before the security team arrives, prompting ongoing tracking and search operations to locate them.

The police say the reported operations form part of continuing efforts to combat crime, protect vulnerable residents and improve public safety across the country.

However, the cases remain subject to investigation, and the suspects should be presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.

The Force also encourages members of the public to provide credible information to security agencies and cooperate with lawful investigations.
