President Bola Tinubu has officially inaugurated the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja, signalling the start of a major phase in the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
At the inauguration held at the Presidential Villa, the President charges members of the council to unite, mobilise voters and secure electoral support across their respective states and polling units.
Tinubu makes it clear that the success of the campaign will depend on the ability of council members to translate political support into votes at the ballot box.
He stresses that every member must take responsibility for delivering results, warning that no one should claim victory without demonstrating electoral success in their assigned areas.
The President’s message places emphasis on grassroots mobilisation, political coordination and effective communication as the ruling party prepares to defend its position in the next presidential election.
Tinubu also assures Nigerians that governance will remain a priority despite the demands of political campaigns. His remarks come as the administration continues to implement policies and reforms that are central to its economic and development agenda.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, in his address, calls for the continuation of the administration’s policies, arguing that the country must protect ongoing reforms while ensuring that their benefits reach ordinary Nigerians.
Shettima’s position reflects the administration’s argument that its policies require continuity to deliver their intended outcomes. However, the effectiveness of those policies and their impact on households are likely to remain important issues in the political debate ahead of the 2027 elections.
The inauguration also attracts political figures whose support extends beyond the traditional boundaries of the APC.
Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who represents the All Progressives Grand Alliance, expresses support for Tinubu, citing national unity, security and shared prosperity as reasons for backing the President.
Soludo’s position adds another dimension to the political discussions surrounding the 2027 election, particularly as parties and political leaders consider possible alliances and areas of cooperation.
Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike also reaffirms his support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition, describing the President as enjoying significant political backing.
Wike’s declaration reinforces his continued alignment with Tinubu despite his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, highlighting the political relationships that extend beyond party affiliations.
The gathering brings together governors, senior government officials and other political leaders, presenting a picture of a broad political coalition assembled around the President’s re-election campaign.
However, the presence of prominent political figures at the inauguration does not, by itself, determine the outcome of the 2027 election. The APC will still need to convince voters through its campaign message, record in government and responses to the economic and social concerns affecting Nigerians.
Mediaplusng.com reports that the Presidential Campaign Council is expected to coordinate nationwide mobilisation, campaign communications and engagement with voters ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Its task will include organising campaign activities across the states, communicating the administration’s achievements and policies, and presenting the party’s plans for another term.
As the election approaches, the APC is expected to face scrutiny over the economy, security, employment, infrastructure and the cost of living—issues likely to influence voters’ decisions.
The inauguration therefore marks an important step in the ruling party’s preparations, but the ultimate test will be whether its political mobilisation translates into sufficient support at the ballot box.
With Tinubu seeking another term, the coming months are expected to bring increased political activity as parties position themselves for what could be a closely contested 2027 general election.
For the APC, the message from the inauguration is clear: organise, mobilise and deliver votes.
