Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has commended the State House of Assembly for its cooperation with his administration, saying the cordial relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government has contributed to stability and development in the state.
The governor gives the commendation on Friday, October 9, 2026, during a constituency briefing and empowerment programme organised by the member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Otobong Bob, at the Nsit Ubium Local Government Secretariat in Ikot Edibon.
The programme provides empowerment items, financial grants and educational assistance to more than 2,000 constituents.
Mediaplusng.com reports that Governor Eno praises Bob for supporting his constituents through initiatives designed to improve livelihoods and create opportunities for small businesses, traders, artisans and young people.
He describes constituency briefings and empowerment programmes as important responsibilities of elected representatives, urging other lawmakers to keep their constituents informed about their activities and support projects that improve living conditions.
The governor also assures Bob of his continued support and expresses optimism that more empowerment initiatives will be introduced during his administration’s second term.
He further announces support for each ward and urges beneficiaries to use the items and financial assistance productively to improve their economic circumstances.
The empowerment package includes eight saloon cars, 11 mini buses, 20 tricycles, 45 motorcycles, 30 vulcanising machines and 40 generators.
Other items distributed include barbing kits, 40 hairdressing sets, 30 knapsack sprayers, 30 grinding machines, 11 grass-cutting machines, 14 deep freezers and 30h manual sewing machines.
The programme also provides direct financial assistance to residents seeking to establish or expand businesses.
Under the scheme, 110 women and 110 youths receive 100,000 naira each, while 32 beneficiaries receive 500,000 naira each and another 24 receive 200,000 naira each.
Six indigenes also receive one million naira each to support their businesses and other economic activities.
In the education sector, 110 students receive grants of 100,000 naira each to support their academic pursuits.
Speaking at the event, Otobong Bob says the programme is designed to appreciate the people of Nsit Ubium for their support and demonstrate his commitment to effective representation and people-oriented lawmaking.
He also thanks Governor Eno for his support and acknowledges the leadership of the State House of Assembly for creating an environment that enables lawmakers to perform their duties.
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, leads the 26-member legislature to the event. He thanks the constituents for their confidence in Bob and acknowledges the governor’s working relationship with the Assembly.
Otong also expresses support for President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Governor Eno and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
Federal lawmakers and other stakeholders from the constituency, led by Senator Effiong Bob, are also present to show support for the initiative.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Imabong Hanson, who receives one million naira in business support, says the assistance will help beneficiaries strengthen their businesses and improve their livelihoods.
Another beneficiary, Emediong Usoro, appreciates the lawmaker for providing educational support to students, while Charles Friday, who receives 500,000 naira to establish a business, describes the grant as an opportunity to build a sustainable source of income and achieve financial independence.
The programme highlights the role of constituency-level interventions in supporting small businesses, promoting education and expanding economic opportunities.
Governor Eno, however, urges beneficiaries to invest their grants and equipment wisely so the support can deliver lasting benefits to their families and communities.
