President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to inaugurate the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council on October 14 as the ruling party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration is expected to bring together key party leaders, governors, political stakeholders and campaign officials tasked with coordinating the party’s activities ahead of the presidential poll.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
According to a statement obtained by Mediaplusng.com, the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari, discloses the development after meeting with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Friday.
Yari tells State House correspondents that the President has approved the proposed campaign timetable, paving the way for the formal commencement of the party’s mobilisation activities.
He says the campaign schedule includes a rally in Kaduna on October 24, which is expected to mark the beginning of the APC’s planned nationwide campaign activities.
Following the Kaduna rally, the party plans to organise further engagements in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The events are expected to provide platforms for party leaders to engage supporters, communicate the administration’s policies and mobilise voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Other prominent figures expected to play significant roles in the campaign include Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and Dr. Betta Edu, alongside other APC chieftains.
Meanwhile, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and members of the party’s women mobilisation directorate have begun grassroots engagement aimed at strengthening support for the President’s re-election bid.
The initiative is being coordinated in collaboration with Edu, who is expected to lead efforts to mobilise women voters across the country.
The campaign team has set an ambitious target of reaching 40 million women voters for the Tinubu–Shettima ticket through a mobilisation strategy covering 176,846 communities and polling-unit structures across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The proposed strategy is expected to rely on community outreach, established grassroots networks and direct engagement with women in urban and rural communities.
Through these activities, the organisers intend to communicate the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0 and encourage wider participation in the party’s political mobilisation efforts.
However, the success of the initiative will depend on the campaign team’s ability to translate its numerical target into meaningful engagement and voter support across Nigeria’s diverse communities.
The October 14 inauguration is expected to formalise the campaign council’s structure and responsibilities, providing a framework for coordinating political activities in the months leading up to the election.
The subsequent Kaduna rally on October 24 is expected to serve as an early test of the party’s mobilisation capacity and its ability to bring supporters together.
As the 2027 elections approach, the APC is working to strengthen its organisational structures, coordinate its campaign leadership and consolidate support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The coming months are likely to see increased political engagement as parties prepare to present their candidates, communicate their programmes and seek the support of Nigerian voters.
